This week’s download is a memory from my childhood. I remember camping with my parents, sitting by the camp fire, in the dark trying to chase fireflies. I don’t believe that I ever caught one, but I remember that I had fun.
I wanted to make a couple of T-shirts for this Summer. I found a few that I liked. They are (mixed blend fabric) which make these T-shirts soft and comfortable. Where do you buy your T-shirts? Please write my some of your recommendations.

For the design I tried to figure out how to make the fireflies showcase in the most vibrant way. I knew that I needed to have a dark colored background. So I thought about a black colored T-shirt with the jar and fireflies outlined in white along with gold foil for the fireflies light. However, as you can see when I finally finished my drawing, I completely changed my concept. I wanted to leave the jar and part of the fireflies black and make the light yellow. (Later I decided to use two tones of yellow/orange). The solution I was left with was to change the color of the T-shirt to gray. This is how it turned out.
I have played with this design a little bit by cutting the fireflies separately and even placed one on the back of the shoulder. When you download the design, you can duplicate the fireflies and change the placement or count. You can have fun placing them wherever suits your fancy.
I don’t know why but I found weeding vinyl a little therapeutic. Of course I enjoy making one t-shirt. The process of experimenting and trying new ideas. When it cuts perfectly and turns out not exactly how I pictured at the start, but becomes something I enjoy. I’m always eager to see the complete design.
If you need a quick reminder on how to input files into Design Space here is a link with easy steps. (If you are using iron-on vinyl, stick it on the mat the shiny front side down and cut on the back. Also, most important to remember, if you have text don’t forget to MIRROR your image.) When you are done, place it on your garment then follow heading/peeling instruction for the vinyl you picked.
